CHURCH OF CHRIST BIBLE SCHOOL.
November 8. , The annual report of the' Church of Christ Bible School is as follows:—
In presenting our annual renort wo have every reason to be tla-nkful for another profitable year's 'work. Tiie number of pupils on* the roll now stands at 192, comprising 111 »ii ■]<■; and 81 boys, and there i s a staff of 22, makinpa total of 214. The average nUeiulanco at school has not been qiuce as high as in previous years on account, of prevailing epidemics.
At the V\*olli:iston Sunday School Union examination held in July last seven candidates from the school obtained certificates, v/bile ivro gained prizes, Olive Leigh coming first in Grjade 2 with 97 per cent. Tn the B examination held under-the auspices of the Dominion Bible gphooj Union, six obtained certfieatos, and ono Ruth Hay, gained first prise in Grade 2 with 89 per cent. Twenty-two pupils made a fall attendance during the year, thus qualifying for the Robert ftaikes diplomas or seals. Of thase eight were for the ii.st year, seven for the second, and a si mi-, lar number for the third.
A feature of the year's work has been the introduction of a Bible-search in" department, under the superintendent of Mts.s Masters, two grades beine formed, thfs numbers joining in and thot interest taken being highly encouraging.
About ten ex-scholars and teacher* are now serving with tho colours, and one, Private Frank Coombes, has lately given his lifo for his King and country. Good work continues to be done by the flower-girls attached to the school in distributing buttonholes, about ;Q weekly, to the patients of the Hospital and the inmates of. the Alexandra. Home, and to returned soldiers beloi!rmg to tho city. In conclusion, the teachers desire. to> heartily thank the parents for their .-ooperation in the work of the school and the members of the church tor their cordial support. Mrs Lang, superintendent of Cradle' Roll Department, reports that thereare 77 names on the roll.
