YOUNG MEN'S INSTITUTE AND GYMNASIUM.

(From "The Colonist," August 4.)

There was an excellent attendance of young men at All Saints' Schoolroom last evening, when it was decided to form an institute and gymnasium. The vicar (Rev. J. A. Rogers) occupied tho chair, and briefly outlined the scheme. The club will be undenominational, and any young men may join with the approval of the committee. It is under: stood that Mr H. Hurst will be offered the position of instructor, and each member will be charged a small subscription for membership. All Saints' gymnasium is well known, and with a few pounds spent on the apparatus the appointments will be first-class.

At the conclusion of the meeting several of those present adjourned to the gymnasium, and some of the oldtimers, many of whom have not done any ''gym" for over twelve years, again stretched their muscles. Although the season is late, this offers a splendid chance for any young man who may wish' to enter updn a course of physical training, the importance of which at the present time is the main reason for the re-forming of the Institute. Another meeting is to be held on Monday evening, anel a committee and officers will be elected before the work of the Institute commences, : i^. ■*&
