CHRIST CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOLLS.

The annual prize-giving- for Oluist Church Sunday j-.-ehnols took place in the Parish Hall., Siielbourne.street, yesterday evening.. The ceremony was preceded by a bright little entertainment, opening with a hymn. The programme was as follows :—Pianoforte solo, Margaret- Terriss; songs, K v aiaire Page, H. Blechynden (and chorus of boys), and Dr. Weeks; vocal duet, Pago and Cecric Teniss;.recitations, Margraret Terriss, Sheila Chappell, Helen Harrison, Vera Thomas. Eva Brown. T. Preston, and C. Terris..

The superintendent- (Mr W .Thompson), speaking of the year's ivork, said a'{2,reat change had been made by the oi the reformed system under the leadership of iliss Moore. A snparato l.mdor^arten school had been established. This had a roll of 67, ana thore were 70 e}>:]dren enrolled at Shelhourne street, making a total of 187. There we're also 40 children- on the roll j of the "Wood School, under Miss Scaly. i The-senior girls' Bible class had hean renewed, and the senior boys' class had the benefit of the guidance of Bishop Mules. -Chairo I'eouired for the now ■system of ..Sur.daj' school instruction in small eljtsses had been ia'ado by the iridy ti'^hi-rs, who had been helped in this work by .some of the bigger boys. Copper plates hearing the" initials C.C.S.S. had been given by Mrs Terriss and placed on the chairs. The finances' 3 i:ad been sufficient to pay for the prizes and -carry something into the next year. The sum required for the maintenance of a Me.lanes.ian scholar had continued to be met. Mr Qjhonipvoji also paid a tribute to the work done for the-.school hy tho former vicar (Archdeacon Kompthorno) end members of his family. .
