ROAD BOARD.

UPPER MOUTEKE

The monthly meeting of the Upper Moutere Road Board was held on July 29th. All the'-'members were present, •and Sir. Adolph Bensemann was in the chair. . , Accounts were passed for payment to the amount of £13 4s Oid. Resolutions were passed, as follows :— '■ That Mr. A. Bird, of Wangamoa, be requested' 3 to refund cost of -repairs to Lyons. bridge. * Thab Mr. Boekmann's account be re- ; turned with a request that, it be ad-1 justed to the board s present rates. j That, with regard to a letter from Mr. A. E. Jackson, as to Apple Valley I road, the Hoard has no grant available for transferring. As to letter from Resident Engineer regarding Moutere-Mapua road, that the Board consents to take over the roadway as on plan ; and that the chair- < man sign the plan respecting the forcing, and affix the seal of the Board. That the matter of land thirds be left in the hands of the chairman. That Mr. 11l P. Hudson's letter as to .-road lights be forwarded to the Riwaka Road Board. Regarding letter from Mr. E. A. Drogemuller as to road deviation, Mr. C. Eggers be authorised to obtain an estimate to do the necessary work. That a new culvert be put in on Drummond's Hill, and 3 dags' work done near E. C. Bensemann's property. That a fordway on Bosselmann's road .be repaired. That Beuke's Hill be metalled and watevtables on same be made good up ,to the Neudorf school. [ ' That. Mr. Harvey interview Mr.

Hickey'as to grading for another week or so. .. ' - » That the secretary write to the Resident Engineer an<jf ask to be authorised to spend the grants for Valley Hill, Blackbird Valley, and balance of Nendorf-Doyctlale grant on day work." ; On letter from Mr. A. Bensemann (chairman), that it be a unanimous re-, quest that be fill His present office as chairman of the Board for the full term, being assured of the hearty cooperation of the members. That the secretary be authorised to obtain advice as to legitimate out of pocket expenses of Board members , when on Board business. " Notice of motion was given by Mr., Charles Thomas: "That the resolution fixing the rate of wages payable by the Board be rescinded."
