LADY LIVERPOOL COMMITTEE.

' The monthly meeting" of the Lady Liverpool Comittee was held on Tuesday afternoon in Hallenstein's rooms, Mrs. :W. Lock presiding. There was a fair attendance of members.

Accounts were passed for payment. Correspondence ;w as read from Mrs. Holland. Christohureb.7 stating that at a special meeting of the Christchurch Committee it was decided to % send to the whole of C Company of the Six-' teenth and Sever.toenth lleinforcements leather. \vai:-:t?rv-iis to be distributed to the men prior to their' leaving New Zealand. The Ckristchurch Committee pointed out that as usual Nelson would no doubt be prepared to supply their quota, which would be 600 waistcoats, costing £225. " ">• ■ Mrs. Lock, said that unless we supplied our quota, the Nelson boys would be left out in the distribution of waist-, coats. '

.After some discussion' as to' funds, the treasurer said that the. amount in hand would not anything like cover the cost of waistcoats.

Finally it was decided to advise the < Cliri^tclmrch. centre that Nelson Avould provide, their share, the Nelson committee trusting that the appeal to the public would meet with the usual ready -response. '

A letter .was read from BrigadierGeneral Johnston, • acknowledging receipt of £10 sent by the committee to the Artillery section, and advising that the money would be expended from time to.time on the men.- He also asked for some weekly newspapers (illustrated) for the men.

It was resolved that on Tuesday, August Bth, the next gift cases be packed, morning and afternoon. Private- parcels are to be left at Mrs. Lock's not later than Saturday. A letter was read from * Captain Dron, of the Ist, Battalion, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, from which the following is taken :—"Thanks to the generosity of the Nelson people we have received numerous gifts, which have proved most acceptable. I think the gifts you have been sending are quite suitable, and any future gifts might well be on similar lines. The men are all fit and well. On behalf of the company I thank you and your committee for all you are doing for us." Donations of illustrated weekly newspapers and magazines are solicited, and may be left at Mrs. W. Lock's.
