The British steamer Clodmoor, which has arrived at Montreal, reports a battle with a German submarine in the Mediterranean. It is .believed that the submarine was sunk.

The Clodmoor plainly shows the marks of-the submarine's guns. The steamer carries defensive armament, and used it against the submarine, which drew off apparently in a sinking condition. The battle lasted half an hour. Several shells pierced the engineers' quarters, and cthres dropped on the vessel's decks.
