DUNEDIN FRUIT AND PRODUCE
MARKET.
Bray Bros, (of Dunedin), Ltd., report ', as follows for the week ended July ! 29th:— T^e wheat market-is firm for Velvet, , but other classes are not in such keen demand. The oat market is".steady, and shows no alteration during the , week.. _ The .consumption is normal, and there is a medium demand from the North. In chaff the position is not strong, -and ■buyer's are operating from hand to mouth in anticipation of lower prices ruling. The market for potatoes shows" no ■ alteration on last- week's prices, mrt the position is firm and prices are inclined to rule higher. Fair supplies of onions are corning forward from Melbourne, and the position.is unaltered. The egg market is barely sutv and prices have risen to la Bd. Dessert apples are in very short -sitoply, and what few lines nr° comnw in are realising exceptionally good prices. The following prices were realised during the week:— Wheat: Velvet 5s 3d to 5s Id per ■bushel, Tuscan 4s 8d to 4s M, ' best fowl 4s id. . Oats: A Gartons 2s lOd per bushel R Gartons 2* 9rl, A Sparrowbttls 2s 9j-d--for shipment, A Gartons 3s Id, A Spa-r----rowbills 3s. Chaff: G4 12s 6d per ton. fc Hay: Prime clover £6 per'ton. Straw: Oaten £3 per ton. wheafcen £2 10s to £2 15s. " Potatoes: Prime table £'S per ton medium £7. ~ ' Onions: Melbourne £7 15s per ton Eggs: Fresh storekeepers' Is 7d per dozen, stamped Is Bd. Apples: Scarlet Pearmain 3fd to 4d per lb, Cleopatras 3d to 3Jd.
