Correspondence was received and dealt with as 'follows:—' From Mr J. Crapper complaining 'of nuisance on vacant section adjoining"lris premises in Hardy street.—lt was decided to take steps to .abate the nuisance.
From G. Baiumb'er requesting the free use of'gas for Union Jack tea rooms in Hardy street, proceeds of which went to the Red Cross Fund.— The request was granted. From Mr E. E. Bell, offering £5 per .annum rent of Botanical -Reserve for grazing sheep.—-Referred to Works Committee.
• From Hon. A. T. Maginnity, M.L.C., notifying that the Loans Conversion and Empowering Bill passed without amendment.
', From Mr J. Clough, complaining of atree- in Beachville.—lt was decided that as the tree, is qn private property the Council can take no action.
From Mr T. F. Martin, counsel to the Municipal Association, stating that the Council had no power to. make any extra charge for pumping in connection with the vlrainaae of brtv.vories and
malthctises Mr Martin al^o advised that the Council had power to raise a loan for the purpose extending the gas supply to suburbs. .
