THE RANGERS.

A most successful novelty fete was held on Wednesday afternoon in the grounds of Mr Percy Hall, Hope, and, thanks to a glorious day for mid-winter, everything passed off well, and all present seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.. Mr Lints and his Pierrots, of course, proved a great attraction, and the Teddy Bears were a source of much amusement. Mr C. AVebley kindly brought an orchestra, and the nrusie added interest and enjoyment to the whole proceedings. A big crcrwd of residents and visitors well repaid the wcrk that had 'been done by a.bamd of ladies and gentlemen, and-"the thanks of all are due to Mesdames ; A. Max, Chisnall, Satherley, Eden and H. Hogg, Misses Eden, 3"oynt, Percival, Pelleiv, Haycock, Gle'dhill, and others. Messrs A. Max, Chisnaill, Lankow, Jl. Haycock, H. Hogg, P. Hall, Silcock, and other gentlemen. The 'fish pond proved a decided success, and. twice the quantity of parcels disposed of could'have been sold. . Afternoon Tea was provided. Every article given for sale'was quitted. Mr J. Hunt, Mayor .of. Richmond (on behalf of Mr Wilkinson), returned thanks for help gken by all, especially the performers, who all came out from Nelson and gave their services freely; also stallholders from Paddy's Market, who kindly gave free a lot' of fancy articles for the stall. Tho committee wish to publicly thank them, and particularly Mr P. Hall for r.se of grounds and Mrs Hall for splendid services willingly given'with teas and other "work. The closing night for all money for the Rangers' Fund is to-night, and the seoretary (Mr A. Wilkinson) earnestly asks any residents. of Hope or Ranzau who have not yet subscribed to let him have anj money before G p.m. to-day.
