AN IRRECONCILABLE BISHOP
'^Australian andN.Z. Cable Association.)
London, July 23
The Bishop of Limerick; in a strong letter replying to a communication from the Nationalist Committee formed at Belfast to oppose"Mr Lloyd George's proposals, says:—"l can well understand your anxiety and indignation at [the proposals of yotir own political leaders to cub you off from your country. 5 have very little pity for you because <yo"a acquiesced in a kind of political servitude in which your fuiictior; .was |to shout the party shibboleths. You ceased to be men. Your leaders conseqasntly think they can sell you like 'chattels. Our poor country is made a thing for truck and barter in tho.Jjibieral Clubs. I doubt greatly -whether till© partition scheme will become law. : iWe have. piled such a mountain of j •debt and taxation upon Ireland that it becomes a matter of indifference whether we are included or not."
