THE GUARDS.
The •Brightwater section of the Wai.-,; tuca Guards' Army held a successful social at the Rechabite Hall on Wednesday, giving a,, farewell and prosenta-' bions to men who are going to the front, na.mely, Corporal' llicketts, Lance-Corporal Stagg, and Privates Biggs and McLachlan. Corporal Tom-: linson, of Waimea West, \\ as also pre-' sent. The evening passed pleasantly' with songs, recitations, musical items, and speeches and competitions. There were also sales "of caikes, 1 ray-cloths, etc, which were put up by the generous buyers again and again, making a very respectable addition to the funds for the Brightwater section. $ ' 1 ■ 1
