CHATHAM ISLAND RECRUITS.

Cbristcfiurch, July 18. Major BernaUj who was sent by the Government to the Chatham Islands to inspect likely recruits, returned today. He said that about 50 men came forward, their physique being good. Major Bernau leaves to-night for Wellington.
