BELGIAN CHILDREN'S FUND.
The folloAviug further contributions to the Belgian Children's Fund are acknoAvledged by the secretary of the Nelson Education Board:—Waingaro £15 30s, Motupipi £0 10s 3d. Clifton Terrace £C, 7s, Mapua £3 13s 6d, Will'sRoad £1 7s 6d; total to date, £313 18s lid. The contribution from Waingaro shoAys an a/yerage of £1 5s lOd per pupil. The combined efforts by the schools I in. the Reefton district in aid of the I Belgian children Avas a great success, as v;ill be seen from the excellent result obtained. One special feature of the appeal Avas the collection 'by the children of all the empty bottles they could obtain. They collected over five thous-j and, which realised £12. The following is a summary of the amounts-received: Reefton and Sacred Heart Schools £22 8s 6d, Black's Point School £5 10s 9d, Waitahu School £2, Globe Hill School £1 12s 6d, Capleston School £2 13s, Cronadun School £2 3<; 7d, Hukarere (per Miss R-. Palmer) 15s 6d, sale of bottles '£12, sale of clothes props 2s 6d, proceeds of McLean's pictures benefit £12 12s lOd. Total, £61 19s 2d. Before the fund is closed it is expected it will reach £65, a? a feAV contributions tire still to come in.
