GERMAN DESPATCH TO AMERICA.
FIGHTING-INCREASING IN ~ FIERCENESS.
RELENTLESS BRITISH WAVES
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.)
(Received' July 14, 8.25 p.m.) New York, July 14. Dr. Max Osborn, of the "Vossischo Zeitvmg,' 7 in a special cable to the "New York Times/ says: "The fierceness and bitterness of the fighting! on the Somme is increasing. It has its counter-part only in the horrors of ; A rerdun. This time \ve cannot reproach England for holding back her men. They are driving forward in ■■vast'and continuous masses and ever fresh waves. The French south of the Somme are attempting an almost continuous chain of drives, but the enemy have found our infantry unshakeable. The Allies' charges still have great power and tenacity."
