MEETING OF EXECUTIVE.

SUBSTANTIAL DONATIONS

A meeting of the Executive of the Silver Bullet Cannonade was held at the rooms last evening. Reports were made by various members who had visited country districts on behalf of the fund. Particulars of these meetings have already been published.

Following upon the reports a discussion took place Avith regard to the date of Declaration of War, which had been fixed for Monday next, July 3rd. It was considered it would be fairer to all the competing armies that the date should be extended, as the country anries, owing to the limited time available, when the scattered nature of some of the districts was considered, would be placed at special disadvantage if the original date was adhered to. - ' • •.

It was finally decided that the, Declaration of War be postponed till Saturday next, July Bth, it being a condition that all payments and allocations for the day should be in the hands of the secretary and the Secret Service Officer respectively by 7 p-.m. of Friday. This course will allow the results of the first firing to be posted at 10 a.m. on Saturday. A question that was briefly discn&sed was with regard to promissory notes. It has been stated from the first that if the present effort is successful no further call on the oublic will be made

by the v Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund for two years. It being the fact that some intending donors had intimated that they" would increase their donations if the total amount could be spread over a period, promissory notes are being prepared in blank for nse in this way.

It was announced that donations in sums of £100 and over so far reported represented a total of £'4000. Of these the following donations could be nade public at this stage:—

Mrs.Renwick, £1000. J. H. Cock, £500. J. W. Marsden, £500. Anchor Shipping Company, Ltd., £500.
