\ STATEMENT BY SENATOR PEARCE.
Melbourne, June 30
Senator Pearce denied that the Commonwealth had promised to supply '300,000 troops by the end of June. Hestated that the assertion was only ra,ade by the press, and never officially. He added that to date there had always been sufficient reinforcements available.

Forces there, Senator Pearee' said Cabinet had decided not to accede to the request.
