At a meeting of the-Ashburton Borough Council to-night a resolution was carried expressing sympathy with th-5 rela-tivos of .the gallant sailors who lost their lives in the naval engagement, it was further resolved, "That the coua(.•il urges upon Parliament to present tho Homo Government with a. warship to replace one of-'those lost in the ougagem.ent.-" ,'■■.•
