The Admiralty announces that undoubtedly the German losses were heavier than the British, not merely relatively, but absolutely.
The first officers' casualty list gives the names of 320 killed, including Rear-Admirals the Hon.' Horace Hood and Sir Robert Arbuthnot, and thirty wounded.
The officers killed on the various ships were as follows: — Queen Mary: The captain, two commanders and 55 others.
Invincible: Admiral Hood, the*captain, two commanders and 56 others. Indefatigable: The captain, commander, and 55 others.
Defence: Admiral Arbuthnot, the captain, three commanders, and 51 others.
Black Prince: The captain, commander and 25 others. Warrior: One officer.
Tipperary s The captain and: ten others.
Turbulent: Five officers. Fortune: Four officers. Ardent: Four officers. Nomad: Six officers. Sparrowhawk: None. Nestor: The commander and six officers.
Other ships: Killed, 21 officers; died of wounds, 2; severely wounded, 3; wounded, 19.
The killed include five fleet surgeons, 18 surgeons and 7 chaplains.
