A number of workers in the Govern•n>ent dockyards at Newcastle volunteered to work on Saturday afternoons making chairs aiid stools for the soldiers, provided the Government supplies the materials. The offer has been accepted.

The anti-German crusade is spreading, and meetings demand internment. The employment of Germans in the Civil Service is used as an excuse for not enlisting." .

Caplain-Chaplain Wilson, who has returned from France, lecturing in the Town Hall, warned the Government that while lecturing in Queensland he encountered numbers of Germans who were openly disloyal.
