Tweuty-fom1 persons'were killed and 27 injured by the Zeppelin raid on Saturday evening. There was also considerable damage to property. Thirteen bombs fell on nine houses, which v*ere wrecked, seven -persons being killed. The majority were fin the houses and none were in the .-street. Twenty were injured. President Poincare visited the stricken /♦centres. The bombs were the most.powerful. One-unrooted and hurled a tree 20, yards to the roof of a building. An-. other injured 20 people. ..... ! .The victims at one point numbered 15, including some who were killed. Elsewhere a man, three women and two children were killed, and others were killed by the collapse of a house.

In the moi'ning it .was announced that the raid had ended. A police officer and his wife were among the killed.
