PERMANENT- PICTURES.

DARDANELLES HERO

The iihn that drew such a large attendance to the - Empire-Theatre, -on Saturday night, was "made in Australia." It is th© production of sn Australian firm, and us a sequel to the recruiting JiliT '-Will They Never Come?" It has been •coiefully reproduced fron. Mr Ashmead Bartktt's vivid description of the immortal landing at Anzac, »nd, although the scene chosen for the setting of the Anafarta scene was. a part of the New South "Wales coast; it was sufficiently realistic to meiet with the approval of some returned soldiers who had been through the mill at Anzac. One of 'these men said that the formation of the coast was somewhat similar to that of Gallipoli, and the manner of the loading was portrayed to the very life. Of course, there is a. story ia the picture, but this is only subsidiary to the wry human interest of tho. fighting episodes. Starting from the camp at.Liverpool a young recruit is followed step by step to the crest, of the hiil above Anzac, where the thrilling episode is shown, as stated in the cables of the time, of the - battle on the cliff edge of an Australian and a Turk, the combatants eventually falling over tho cliff into the waters of the, bay v wh ere the Au? fcraliaii drowned his Ottoman enemy. Thio film is a stirring one, and those who-missed it on Saturday have another opportunity of seeing it, as it will be screened for the last finig 10-night. A special holiday programme ha.s been arranged ior to-morrow (Tuesday), and intending visitors' to the Empire Theatre are lecommehded to book their seats, as few lovers of pictures will miss seeing "Lorna \Doone," and there is no extra charge for booking.

COUNTRY TOUR.. Motueka wil' be visited on Tuesday instead of on Wednesday.
