Wellington, Jan. 20. The Anchor Company's steamer Kaitoa stranded at Terawhiti this evening in a-thick fog. She was bound from Nelson to Wellington, and had about eighty passengers, including a number of' soldiers who were returning from leave. Alt wore landed without' casualty. The vessel is stated to be fast, aground, but not making; water. Mounted police have been despatched to the scere, which is difficult of access; o.lso aid from MeMonamin's station, to which the passengers are walking. The tug Terawhiti goes to the seen© in the morning if the fog lifts, and cars- will be sent overland. The sea, was smooth when the vessel grounded.
