SCUTARI NOT OCCUPIED.
AUSTRIAN DEFEAT AT EL BASSAN.
RELIEF COLUMN 23 MILES FROM KUI-EL-AMARA.
THE BLOCKADE.
IMPORTANT STATEMENT BY SIR EDWARD GREY.
It is now denied that the Austrians have occupied Scutari. In a battle at EJ Bassany Essad I&sha's Albanians defeated the Bulgarian vanguard. It now transpires that the last fighting in which General Aylmer's force was engaged took place twenty-three miles from " Kut»el-Am-ira, aad not seven miles, as was at first reported. On tlie Western front the ground gained by the Germans in tbe attack at Nieuport has been entirely retaken. In the House of Commons Sir Edward Grey made an important statement on the subject of the blockade, emphasising Great Britain's determination to maintain her full rights, while res peiting those of neutrals.
