OBITUARY.
The death occurred suddenly on Fri«ay ol Mr. Andrew-Anderson, a wellknown farmej- of ' Kijlinchy, (Canterbury. Mr. Anderson was 80 years of age. .it is supposed that death was due to heart failure. The late Mr Anderson came out to New Zealand irom Jvernemuir. Forfamhire, fortvthree years ago. He had resided in the PJlosmore district for many years TliG deceased had beon a director of the Canterbury Central Dairy Conmanv for '23 years. ' " "
ftlr. Frank William Fast, who died fit Prebbleton on Friday at this age of 74 years, was very well known" and respected, having resided in the district for over fifty years. Early in his career Mr. Fast was a threshing mi]] owner, and later was employed ats a cleric to the Lincoln Rond Board, and a returning 'officer for Courtenay and the old Lincoln electorate. He was a prominent lodge man. being a Freemason, a, member of the Druid GrantLodge. E.C. Grand Steward of the New Zealand Grand' Lodge, founder of Lodge Lincoln in 1880, and for over forty years a member of Lodge Canterbury. ■■ '
The Thfiir-.es "Star" announces the death .of .Mr. .Francis Chappell. a very old resident of the Thames, aged 80. Deceased was ' born at Nottingham, England, in 1833. and emigrated to New Zealand in the ship Tyburnia 53 years ago. 'He*-was fit the opening-of the Thames gpldfields,-and took an active part in the erection of bfitterios at both Thames and Corqmaudel. He was for isome time a member of tho Thames Borough Council., and for over 60 years a member of the Loyal Fountain of Friendship Lodge. Mr. John S. Adams., a pioneer of various goldrramng- districts,' is dead, at the a'jre of 73. The deceased was born in Devonshire, England, rirrived at Ballovnt, Victoria, in 18R2, n"d came to Otago in February^ 1863. He v-n.^ on tli", Molyneux at. the Fourteen Mile Beach for two ye'nr* nnd then removed to Blackstone Hill, and was afterwards for three years in the Grey district. On returning to Otaro. Mr. Adams settled at Kakanui. and resirie<l there for ten yearn, engaging m various occupations. In 1889 he < reninved to Mnerewhenua, North Otasro, where he followed mining and farming. -
