About the raffles connected with this incongruity—raffles for behoof |of wounded soldiers—the Dunedin Council of Churches has been in a strait betwixt two.* The secretary talks of "a vice against which ,the churches have always protested," yet quotes a resolution arrived at, "recognising that possibly there may be an innocent gratification of inherent sporting instincts." Hear, hear! Stick to that. The Council of Churches is at last on the path of progress.—"Civis" in the- ''Otago Daily' Times."
