TIE ITALIAN WAR.

AN AUSTRIAN RUSE.

AERIAL PROTECTION OF VENICE

GERMAN SPIES IMPRISONED

STORMY WAR COUNCIL AT

INNSBRUCK

Rome, July 7. A communique says that one of the commonest Austrian tricks on the Isonzo is for parties of men in advance positions to raise their hande and then suddenly fall on their faces and thereby unmask dense lines of sharpshooters. A squadron, of hydroplanes manned by French naval airmen, under the command of Lieutenant Conpeau, is stationed at Venice to protect the city, and also for reconnoitring the Austrian fleet's movements. The Government is hastening the construction of numerous hydroplanes. , The captain and engineer of the Ger- ! man steamer Lemos, interned at YenI ice, have been sentenced, to ten years' I imprisonment for spying at night, and signalling information to the Austrian .fleet. Six thousand Italians captured in Galicia have been sent to Italy. The Archduke Eugene presided over a war council at Innsbruck. German and Austrian generals bitterly debated the situation and three Austrian generals oh'the Italian frontier were relieved of their commands. All the San Marino army of twelve thousand except two thousand are fighting alongside the Italians.
