Mr A. E. McGregor, president of the JNelson branch, occupied the chair and over seventy members were present. In© men who are leaving for the front to-day were guests of the Association. Diirmg the evening, the Mayor (Mr C. J. Harley), on behalf of the Association presented safety razors to each ot .the postal officers present, and they were accorded musical honours and loud cheers A lengthy toast list was disPpsed of, a,s follows:—"The King"; •The Post and .Telegraph' Association," ivlr Lggleton, responded to by' Mr Coad ; ■ "The Department," Mr Kemp responded to by Mr W. T. Ward • "Kindred Departments and Associations, "f Mr C. M. Who]an, responded to by^Mr.)'. Fitjs-Gerald; "Our Absent Friends and Comrades at the Front," Mr E. W. ■Rudman; .'Tho Parliament," Mr H. Atmore, responded to by the Hon. A. T. Maginnitv and Mr T A H Field, M.P. ; '"'Tho'Xhvv. the Army and Patriotic Societies," Mr Keating, responded J-c by Captain ftfjbhismi aiid Mr 'W. W. PWlwiss; '"Hie Press," and '-'The Ladies." TJjo speeches were interspersed with, songs, recitations, and instrumental items by Messrs Packard, Holdsivoj'th, ■ MeGr<>gor, Btidmun, Ward, and WhelaTi. Accoinpnniments were played !by Mr N ]1. Williams. The gathering was most successful, and the •catering ovratigevoo-ats, 111 charge of Mr G. A. I^ay, were most satisfactory. Twelve of tim stall of tlio Nelson Post Office are either serving at tho front or havo volunteered for service, viz., Messrs N. H. Amos, E. H. Tyler, P. S. Boyes G. Davis. H. L. Hollyinan, N. ">v T. Oldershaw, 11. Oliver, N. C. Howe. J. McGee, P. Lamb (wounded ati the Dardanelles), D Alborough, and 0. Dick.
