QUESTION IN THE HOUSE

London, June 8

The Cabinet, including the Lord Chancellor, agreed to pool salaries. Each Minister receives £4271. Mr. Asquith is excluded from the scheme. In the House of Commons, on the question of the Munitions Minister's salary. Sir A. Markham objected to the reported pooling of Ministerial salaries. (Disorder.)

Mr. Asquith said he was surprised and pained. If the House was going to discuss how Ministers disposed of their salaries,' it was an end cf all decencies in public life. Ho absolutely declined to acknowledge tho right of the House to inquire how a Minister spent his salary. He would never consent to hold office .under' such conditions.
