UNITED STATES AND GERMANY.
RESIGNATION OF MR. BRYAN.
DISAGREEMENT WITH THE
PRESIDENT.
OBSTACLE TO STRONGER POLICY
REMOVED
Washington, iJune 8. Mr. W. J. Bryan, Secretary of State, has resigned.
Mr. Bryan allowed it to be known that he is wholly opposed to President Wilson's German policy.
Mr. Bryan favoured peace, and deprecated any action likely to lead to complications.
The Press generally approves of the resignation, hoping the result will be a stronger and more vigorous policy towards German infractions of international law.
