MR JENNINGS UNSEATED,
NOT QUALIFIED TO BE MEMBER.

Auckland, May 14. Tito Election Court held that Mr Jennings did not reside in the Taumaninui electorate according to the provisions of the Act, but in New Plymmsth. He was not therefore qualified to be on the roll as an elector, and tho Cburt was compelled to hold that Mr Jennings was not at. the date of the election qualified to he a member of the House of Representatives. The Court did not think it necessary to order a scrutiny or to express an opinion en the numerous difficult questions raised i;i the Taumarunui petition, having decided on tho basis of the candidate's electoral qualifications. The Court .accordingly held that the election was void. Each party has to pay, its own costs, with the exception of the Full Court costs (20 guineas), which iiha respondent was ordered to pay.
