DUNEDIN FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET.
Messrs Heovy F. Moss. Ltd., Dune<Tui, report ar, follows for the week e-nd-od May 7th :— Business for the past week has been a good deal quieter. Cooking apples have been in every short supply, and targe green sorts meet with tip-top values. Dessert apples ai'e still plentiful, the inquiry for this class of fruit not being quite so good. Winter Nelis and Winter Cole pears .m<y?t with prompt sales at firm prices, but the demand for any other sorts is limited. A consignment of quinces' arrived on our market this week, and very satisfactory result's were obtained. The- following are some of the prices realised at auction during the week: — Apples: Choice Jonathan No. 1 grade 7s per case, No. 2 grade 6s 6d, Ribstone Pippin 7s, Cox's Orange Pippin No. 1 grade 2d, 2J-d to 2fd per Ib, No. 1' grade 2. a,d, small 2d per Ib, ScaHet Pearmain No. 1 grade 7s per case, No. 2 grade 6s, cooking largo green sorts l-Jd to 2d per 1b (much wanted). Pears: Winter Cole and Winter Nelis '2kl to 2-Jd per Ib. Other sorts 5s to 5s 6d per bushel case, 2s to 2s 6d for half-cases. Quinces: Good inquiry l£d, 2d to 2id. , |
