Christchurch, May 10. The criminal sessions of the Supreme [Court opened to-day. [ Cecil Farrow, aged 26. appeared for sentence for embezzling £693 from the Lyttelton Borough Council, for which he was. cashier He stated that the money was spent in card-playing and horse-racing. Counsel said Farrow had enlisted with the. artillery to go to the war when he- was arrested. The authorities wore prepared to take him. Restitution would be made. His Honour postponed sentence to consider whether, the special circumstances 'warranted giving th© man a chance, to serve his country. He postponed sentence for a fortnight. i Edward Robert Wilson, aged 17, was admitted to probation for a year on ■two■charges of theft from the Springfield Post Office, where he was rehevIleotor McLean, for breaking and entering and theft, was sentenced to tive years' imprisonment with, hard labour. The prisoner recently came j irom Australia, and upon him was found a certificate of probation irom Pontndge Gaol. Emanuel Kirdy, a foreigner, came up for sentence on a charge of incest, and I was.sentenced to ten years' imprisonment. ■ ■ . Wellington, May 10 At the Supremo Court to-clay, May Wills wa-s convicted of theft of £25 jfrom a Chinaman.
