Mr Ray.-son, S.M., to-day convicted iho managers of tho Huntly and Taupiri mines for failing to cause reasonable precautions* to be- taken to secure the safety of the men; also for famng to appoint sufficient underviowers to cause the mine to be inspected daily. Each was fined £5 Is, with costs, on the first charge, and convicted without a fine on the second charge.
