CAPTURED SUBMARINE CREWS.
\ DIFFERENTIAL TREATMENT IN 1 ENGLAND.
GERMAN NOTE TO AMERICA
SIR EDWARD GREY'S CHARGE OF
NEGLECTING TO RESCUE
"REJECTED WITH LOATHING."
Amsterdam, April 13
The German Government, in a Note to the American Ambassador, expressed astonishment at Britain's differential treatment of submarine officers, and protested against such breach of international law.
Germany rejects with loathing Britain's suggestion that German ships neglected to rescue shipwrecked men; and asks the Ambassador to arrange for an officer of the .American Embassy at London to inquire into the treatment of submarine prisoners and report concerning their lodgment, maintenance and employment.
German newspapers rejoice at the proposed reprisals.
