DUNEDIN FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET.
(Special to "The Colonist.") Dunedin, March 20. The Central Fruit and Produce Mart (Messrs Reilly, Gill, and Co.) report as follows:— Consignments of fruit from Nelson, especially peaches, plums and choice dessert apples and pears, have realised good prices, apples making 7s 6d to 9s 6d for choice dessert, and to 6s <3d for prime cookers. Plums: Cole's Late lied realised 5s 6d. Peaches, 4s 3d to 5s Cd. A fine line of pears came forward, and realised from 7s to 8s 3d. Chillies realised 5s to 6s 6d. The bulk of the tomatoes coming; forivard were badly cracked and green, ;i nd for this class of fruit sacrifice prices had to l>e accepted to effect a clearance. Green and badly cracked tomatoes have s;>!d from 2s 6d to 4s 6d per case, though choice tomatoes have realised its high as 3s. Wo think it will not pay Nelson consignors to send any further consignments of tomatoes at the present* time. Bray Bros.. Ltd., report as follows on current prices at their fi-uit mart in Dunedin:— Apples: "With the exception of rooking varieties, apples are in good supply. Cookers, wanted, 4s Od to 6s 9d per bushel.
