UNLAWFULLY USING WATER
Arthur Patchett, who did not appear, was charged on the information of Alfred Higgins, water inspector, with using water supplied from the waterworks for a purpose not included within the term "ordinary supply," viz., for watering a garden by means of a hose, without permission of the City Council. Mr Wise aooeared for the City Coun cil.
Informant stated that on December 11th, 1914, he was inspecting water taps, and went into Mrs. Trask's garden, in Collingwood street, at 2.30 p.m. He found the tslp turned on full pressure, and ferns being watered from a hose. Defendant, who was Mrs. Trask'is gardener, told him that he thought he could use the hose. G. A. Edmonds, Town Clerk, gave evidence that no permit to use the hose had been issued to defendant. The Magistrate, in entering a conviction, said defendant had not taken advantage of the opportunity given him to appear, and he would be fined 20s, with costs 17s 6d. PROHIBITION ORDER. On a husband's application a prohibition order was granted against life wife for 12 months. Applicant stated that he had been married seven weeks, and his wife had been drinking since last Friday.
