London, March 16.
At the wool sales 10,453 bales were offered, whereof 3445 were from New Zealand. There was a representative selection, a good attendance, and general competition. Americans were somewhat reserved owing to inability to ship after the last sales. Crossbreds were fully 5 per cent, above last clos ing rates! Best merinos barely maintained former rates; faulties were 5 per cent, cheaper; scoureds, Jd to Id dearer.
Messrs. E. Buxton and Co., Ltd., woro yesterday in receipt of the following cable from their London agents (Messrs. Sanderson, Murray end Co.) wit!) reference to tho opening of the March scries of London wool sales: — •'Sales opened with good attendance, ami good competition. Faulty Merino 5 percent', lower, market weak, best descriptions no charge. Now Zealand crossbred greasy advanced 6 per cent; other descriptions no change."
