DROWNED ON SEA BEACH.

Levin, Jan. 11

A sad accident occurred at Hokio beach yesterday morning at 10.30. T. Broome, Mrs Broome, their daughter, aged 11, of Levin, and Mr ;md Mrs Carey, of Birkenhead, and Phyllis Chapman, aged 12, of .Levin, while bathing got into a hole. All got ashore except the girl Chapman. Mrs Broome went to the rescue and got hold of the girl, but was forced to let go. Mr Broome then attempted a rescue. He was soon in difficulties, but was rescued by R. Smith who was about an hour in bringing Mr Broome round. Meanwhile the girl Chapman disappeared.
