Hokitika, Jan. 11. Heavy rain during the past few days has caused considerable damage in the Kaniori Lake and Humphreys districts. On Saturday the Ross Goldfields water race was carried away for several chains by a hillslide. It will take several days to effect repairs. Meanwhile the electric power has been stopped. The borough water pipes canned away as a result of the approaches to the bridge at Coal Creek being pushed out; but they were renewed early this morning. On "the Filuespur-Humphreys road considerable damage is reported to roads and culverts.
