Mr. McKenna, Home Secretary, speaking in the House of Commons, an- j nounced that British troops had occupied the island of Herm near Guernsey, which was leased in 1889 to a Ger-| man company. Th& house and grounds were subsequently re-let to Prince Bluchor. The riot at the Douglas alien camp was an organised endeavour to escape: The Kronprinz Wilhelm sunk the La Correntina and a French barque. The passengers^ and crews were landed at Buenos Ayres. • Two battalions were formed in Manchester in a week. The Government is arranging an international clearing house to facilitate commerce with Russsia. A committee has been formed to supply the fleet with fresh fruit and vegetables.
