DOGS.

The association caters well for collie dog exhibitors, and the judge, Mr Crisp, is of opinion that exhibitors do not do what they could in support. For one thing, most of the dogs are shown very rough, the lack of preparation being most noticeable. Moreover, many aged animals are shown over and over again. Exhibitors -should have some younger stock, and should show it. Bad mouths are frequent among the dogs shown. Too many of the dogs ar-y hetuvy in oar and gay ness in tail carriage is a fairly frequent fault. A dog that meets with special commendation from the judge is Mr J. J. Beatson's rough-coated Collb bitch Topsy, which, though young, is built on the best lines, and lias good legs and feet, her fault being heaviness; of ear. Sho is put down in the best of condition.
