The Press Bureau reports that duriu^ September several German raids occurred in British territory, and attempts were made to cut the Uganda railway With the exception of an unimportant frontier station where it was inconvenient to send troops all the raids wer6 defeated, and the Germans forced to retire.

The garrisons in Eaat Africa and Uganda have now been strengthened by strong bodies of Indian troops . and mounted local volunteer forces.
