The Nelson committee have "expended most of the funds m hand on wool, and this is ther.}f.*ro to be knitted into sock's. In order, hewever, to provide cholera'belts oi Lhe pattern needed, it has 'been "deli Jed to canvass the town for shilling subscriptions and get the belts made at one-cf the factories in New Zealand; ariJ- forward them to England, in response to the Queen's appeal. It is reco.4nu.ed that many calls have already been ma ie on residents, and it has therefore been decided to limit the individual "subscription to Is. The Mayoress (Mrs. Lc- k) has the matter in hand, and is arranging for a staff of- canvassers to i» siit «v residents.
