TROOP TRAIN DERAILED

THIRTEEN MEN KILLED

GELIGNITE FOUND IN A MINE

Capetown, Sept. 11

A colonial troop train was derailed at Hex River Pass, and capsized over an embankment.

Five hundred of the Kaflrarian Rifles were on the train, which was crawling down a steep winding pass, when the engine left the rails on a curve. Ten coaches followed, and toppled twenty feet. Thirteen men were killed.

Tremendous efforts are being made tc clear the line, which is a single one, a^ ten urgent trains en route to Capetown are held up.

Six sticks of gelignite were found in the shafts of the Luipaard silver mine. The shaft is now guarded, and all German and Austrian miners have been discharged.
