In the! senior match Motueka proved victorious by 31 points to 3,, but. in the junior contest the local team secured an easy win by 19 points to nil. In the latter game there was muck confusion owing to the similarity of colours, both teams playing in green and black jerseys. The weather was fine, bis: there was a strong south-west wind blowing, which, although it spoiled the play to a large | extent, dried up ,the ground, whic'a was in capital order. The display of, football was disappointing, :xud on the play the better team The local team, which was noc fully leprosentative, played very erratically; the backs lacked combination, and th-j forwards were- quite unable !«• 'do anything I against the visiting forwards, who were ii-solid, hardworking - lei. "he Motueka backs, with the Wception of Ash Bradiey, did not poriprm brilliantly, and frequently attempted passing rushes were .spoiled by faiilty handling. Although kelson won th« toss, and played with the wind, t/iey failed to make use of this advantage, and the visitors more than held ,th/ir own, Nelson -frequently , being ca/ted upon to ( strain cvoiy pffort to fepp "their qppon'ent;:

Bennett was also prominent in a dribbi:ng rush, which resulted in Motueka being forced. The game ended:. Motueka 11, Nelson 3. For Motueka Ash P-radley, F. and J. Drummond were the best of the backs, and Lulham, Batcheloi, Niemann, and Hunter were prominent in the forwards. On the Nelson side most of the back work was done by Huse and D. Smith.
