THE LEAGUE GAME.
ENGLAND V. QUEENSLAND
(Received June 14, 5.5 p.m.) Brisbane, June 13
The weather was fine for the League match, England v. Queensland. The visitors, after leading at half time by 13 to nil, eventually won hy 18 points to 10. Fourteen thousand "spectators [were present. The first half was very. fast. The English forwards were brilliant, and badly beat the Queensland pack. The backs were a magnificent combination, and very hard to stop when properly moving. The Queens* landers played solidly, but the Englishmen's weight told against them. Of the thirty scrums Queensland secured, the ball only three times. The second half was vigorously contested, and the | Queenslanders played with great determination and dash, tackling splendidly, but they lacked combination. They frequently had the visitors on the defensive. The fast pace in the first half told against the Englishmen's forwards, who lost much of their dash. The backs played with wonderful combination, but the defence of the home players equalised matters. The concluding stage was very exciting, the Queenslanders shqwing to better advantage than the visitors, females was ordered off the field for rough play. The scorers were as follo-.vs:—England: Williams 2, Francis and Davis one each; Thomas converted a try, and Guerin landed a penalty goal and a goal from a mark. ! For Queensland McCabe and Scott scored a try each, and H. Bolewski converted one, and also landed a penalty goal.
