Auckland, June 12. A complete set of moulds for making

counterfeit, sovereigns, half-crowns, and shillings was discovered at the residence 6f Frederick A. Smith on the Haivini Settlement, near Te Awamutu.. The police found in a whare twelve sets of moulds for half-crowns, one for sovereigns, three for shillings; also a quantity of lead and solder, files, rasps, and ladles. The coins seized by the police are described as excellent work, aftd the baseness is only detected b\ the ring. Smith appeared at the Court at Te Awamutu on a charge of making ami attempting to utter counterfeit coins. The defence was in the direction that accused was not sane. Smith was committed for trial at Hamilton.
