The qualifying test was begun in the golf tournament at Troon. There was ideal weather and an excellent coi\rse. Harry Vardon led in the first round with 72. Oaimet, and leading professionals are well up. Apperley's score was 85, and he requires a good score in the second round to enable him to qualify. . .
