The engagement is announced 'of Miss Addie Clouston, youngest daughter of the late Captain Clouston, Nelson, to Mr W. Morton, Mangaweka. A London Prets Association cab to states that Mr Sproule, of Melbourne, has been appointed president of the Oxford University Athletic Club. A Press Association message received from Mastorton last night states thaiMr Walter Perry, one of the pioneer settlers of the district, who arrived at New Plymouth with hie parents in 184] died in the evening at the age of 75 years'. He served in the Maori war in Taranaki, and was one of the first member* of the Masterton Borough Council.
At the monthly meeting of the Nelson Land Board, held yesterday, it wag resolved to place on record the board's appreciation of the services rendered by Mr John Pollock, who was secretary to the Land Board for some years, and has now retired on superannuation. Mr Pollock was for over forty years an officer of the Department.
