THE LEAGUE GAME.
ENGLISHMEN V. NEW SOUTH WALES.
VISITORS IN BETTER FORM
Sydney, June 9
The attendance at the football match yesterday was 48,000. ~ The "Herald" says that though the Britishers showed to more advantage than on Saturday, they were still most disappointing. They were beaten fore and aft, and their position is hopeless. The "Telegraph" declares that the game demonstrated that when Wagstaff has worked his team into combination it will do much better.
The visitors were entertained at a banquet. Mr. Clifford, manager, said the players were not yet thoroughly hardened. When they returned from Queensland they would show what they were made of.
Dr. Thacker nrged that the visitors should consent to replade injured men in-the field. The failure to do so was causing comment, as New South Wales had not beaten a full team.
